7-Mile Beach Democratic Club Pot Luck

Time: 6:30 PM

The 7-Mile Beach Democratic Club will be holding our annual potluck dinner party on Thursday, 8/22, 6:30p.m., at the home of Craig and Donna Rothman, 6896 Ocean Dr., in Avalon. We will be bringing our favorite drinks and dishes (appetizer, side, or desserts) to complement the Rothman's barbecued chicken and baked beans. Our guests will be our Democratic candidates for State Senator and Assembly and County Freeholder. Spouses are welcome. Dress is casual. Checkbooks will be appreciated.

Directions: Go to 69th St and Ocean Drive. You will see a mailbox marked "6896". Next to that is a gravel driveway. Walk down the driveway, and the house is in the back.

Cape May County Coast Guard Community Festival Week 
 
Southern New Jersey United States Coast Guard Ball

Date: Saturday, April 27, 2019

Location: Wildwoods Convention Center | 4501 Boardwalk | Wildwood, NJ

Time: 6 PM  to 11 PM

Price: $85 per person

This gala event draws Coast Guard personnel and their families from throughout the region. The black-tie celebration transitions from sophisticated and formal to all-out-dancing fun over the course of the evening. As part of a special partnership, members of the community are invited to join the festivities.  A limited number of tickets are available.

Coast Guard Salute at Mudhen

Youth Art Show Award

Time: 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Come celebrate the winning artists from the art show and view the works of local school children on display at the Nature Center. FREE.

 

Cape May County Museum Exhibit
 
Date: May 1- September 27, 2019

Location: Museum of Cape May County | 504 U.S. 9 | Cape May Court House, NJ

Opening Reception | May 1st at 7 PM

“Always Ready: Always Here” will open with a special evening reception May 1st at 7 p.m. for Museum membership and the public alike. On May 2nd , the exhibition will be opened to the public for general tours and will run throughout the summer season, closing on Sept. 27. Visitors can access the gallery portion of the exhibition at no charge from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Self-guided tours of the Smith Barn are $5 per person. Exhibit opening reception is free and open to the public.

The displays will showcase the USCG and its predecessors and their role in the history of our county. Surrounded by water on three sides, every municipality, township and borough has been a recipient of the services provided by the Coast Guard and its predecessors.

 

U.S. Life Saving Station Program

Location: Ocean City Life Saving Station | 4th St & Atlantic Ave | Ocean City, NJ
Time: 7 PM

Before our modern Coast Guard was established, the U.S. Life-Saving service rescued shipwrecked mariners and passengers. Join John Loeper to tour U.S. Life Saving Station 30 in Ocean City, a stunningly restored 1886 building with gabled roof and lookout tower, and then learn the history of the Life-Saving Service in Cape May County. Light refreshments will be served.

Feasting on History

Historic Cold Spring Village kicks off the 2019 season with its signature fundraiser, Feasting on History. The annual restaurant gala is one of the most anticipated social events of the season offering guests an opportunity to network with businesses and the community before the summer season begins. Cape May County’s favorite restaurants, wineries, food trucks, distilleries, and breweries generously donate delicious food, signature dishes, wine, craft beers, and desserts. Last year over 500 guests enjoyed a night of food, music, and networking while celebrating the mission of Historic Cold Spring Village.
